Garrett Davidson
Associate Professor
Garrett is assistant professor of Arabic and Muslim World studies at the College of Charleston. He received his PhD with honors from the University of Chicago’s Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations in 2014. Garrett lived in Cairo for several years where he completed a MA in Arabic studies at the American University in Cairo. He has also lived, studied and conducted research in Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Malaysia, and India. Garrett’s research examines the Islamic scholarly tradition, Arabic manuscript culture, and provenance history.
